DESCRIPTION Bio Enamel Lacquer is a thick, dirt-repellent and water-repellent, gloss or satin painted finish, containing no toxic solvents, resins or heavy metals. Suitable for all wood types, steel, aluminium and copper. Especially suitable for use on toys, panelling, skirtings and architraves, garage doors and window frames. Bio Enamel Lacquer satin is suitable for interior use only. Bio Enamel Lacquer Gloss is suitable for interior and exterior use.
PREPARATION Prepare the surface in accordance Australian Standard 2311 Painting of Buildings. Surfaces should be well-sanded, dry and cleaned of greasy, waxy and dirty contaminants using BIO Thinner. Hardwoods and other timbers rich in natural oils, waxes, acids and terpenes should be degreased using Bio Thinner because these substances may mix with the paint and prolong its drying time. Old coatings must be removed. Timber moisture content must be under 15% for softwood, and under 12% for hardwood.
METAL PRIMING Provides anti-corrosive protection for steel, aluminium, brass and copper. Not effective on zinc and galvanised surfaces. The metal should be cleaned of all grease, dirt, processing soil, salt residues, weldscale, rust and other residue which is likely to affect the performance of a protective coating. Apply 2 coats of Metal Primer thinly and evenly. Lightly sand between coats when completely dry. Finish with Bio Enamel Lacquer, white or coloured.
APPLICATION Stir thoroughly before use with a broad flat stirrer. Thin as desired with 5-10% BIO Thinner to obtain a smooth flowing consistency. Apply one coat of Undercoat and two coats of top coat. Minimum dry film thickness is 100 microns.
DRYING Apply second and subsequent coats only after previous coat has thoroughly dried. This will take between 24 and 40 hours, and longer with cold or damp weather. Do not be tempted to apply paint too thickly, as this retards the drying process. Lightly sand if necessary after the undercoat. Do not use below +10C and above 80% humidity or in cold damp conditions, or when condensation, rain, dew or frost are likely to occur. Provide adequate ventilation during application and drying. Reaches maximum durability after 8-14 days. When used on floors, furniture may be brought in with due care after three days.
